Following its official launch in February, the AIDA-AfCFTA Impact Assessment Platform has now been rolled out in five countries as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen evidence-based implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area.
The platform is designed to support countries, regional institutions, and stakeholders to assess the potential impact of AfCFTA implementation across trade, industrialisation, and enabling environment dimensions. It provides a structured digital space for analysing trade opportunities, identifying policy and institutional gaps, and supporting more informed decision-making on national and regional AfCFTA priorities.
The rollout in five countries marks an important step in moving the platform from launch to practical use. Through the country engagements, users are being introduced to the platform’s core tools, including trade potential analysis, enabling environment assessment, and industrialisation readiness tracking. These tools are intended to help policymakers, technical officers, and private-sector stakeholders better understand where opportunities exist and where targeted support may be required.
The platform also promotes a more data-driven approach to AfCFTA implementation by allowing countries to organise relevant indicators, generate insights, and monitor progress over time. This is particularly important as Member States continue to translate AfCFTA commitments into practical reforms, investment opportunities, and productive-sector development strategies.
The five-country rollout will provide useful lessons for wider continental scaling. Feedback from participating countries will help refine the platform, improve user experience, and strengthen its alignment with national and regional priorities.
As implementation advances, the AIDA-AfCFTA Impact Assessment Platform is expected to become an important digital instrument for supporting evidence-based trade policy, regional integration, and industrial development across Africa.
